When detained by ICE, the first thing anyone should do is request a bond. If personally detained, ask the the ICE agents if you will be released or granted bond. If there is a minimal flight risk and no danger to the community, bond should be granted. Additionally, you have the right to remain silent. You do not have to speak to ICE agents, nor do you have to respond to their questions. Lastly, do not sign anything until speaking with a lawyer.
If your loved one has been picked up by ICE, and you wish to find out his or her location, you can put in his or her information into the Online Detainee Locator System at
https://locator.ice.gov/odls/homePage.do.
If bond is denied for your or your loved one, our firm can help. We can submit a Motion for Bond Redetermination in most circumstances, in an attempt to get you or your loved one released from the Detention Center. After release from ICE detention, we highly recommend that you give us a call at (757) 464-9224 or contact us online to set up a consultation to discuss the details of your case, which will eventually be heard by an Immigration Judge.
